Lisa Xiaohong Cheng (程晓红)

CAST-UT 2010 President. Lisa Cheng is originally from China. She received her international business degree in China and worked as an international trader for over seven years.  She came to Utah in 1998 and received her second BS degree from University of Utah in Finance. Ms. Cheng owned and operated her own business in American Fork before. Currently, she is working at First Utah Bank as International Marketing Manager. Her marketing focus is local Asian community, and she makes herself available to all Asian clients to meet their financial needs. She also helps people who want to do business with China. She is serving as current President of CAST and VP of Utah Asian Chamber of Commerce.

 

Xiaoming Sheng (盛晓明)

CAST-UT 2008 and 2009 President, CAST-USA 2010 Vice President–Administrative Affairs. Dr. Xiaoming Sheng received his Bachelor and Master's degrees of Engineering from University of Science and Technology of China, and Ph.D. in Statistics from University of Alberta. He is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Biostatistician at University of Utah. He is co-director of the Study Design and Biostatistics Center at the University of Utah Health Science Center, and a member of the University Statistics Committee. He is a lifetime member of CAST-USA and its Utah Chapter.

 

Wei Peng (彭伟)

CAST-UT 2010 President-Elect. Dr. Wei Peng was a physician in China. He currently is a medical director of ICU and Respiratory Care in the Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. He also received an award from American Association for Bronchology Interventional Pulmonology in 2005. He has involved multiple levels of business and scientific connection between USA and China.

 

Zhe Leng (冷哲)

CAST-UT Secretary General. 2007年毕业于西北工业大学,获得硕士学位。现为犹他大学机械工程系博士研究生,研究方向为机器人(自动驾驶车辆)。

 

Geping Cheng (程戈平)

CAST-UT Chief Financial Officer. Dr. Cheng has been actively involved in some local community activities for the past two years.  He was awarded an Honor CAST-UT Member in 2003.  Dr. Cheng obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering in University Of Utah in 1996.  He currently is a Senior Software Consultant at iCentris, Inc. in Salt Lake City.  Prior to coming to the U.S., he was an air-conditioning engineer and vice-director, Department of Construction and Engineering in Hangzhou International Building (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) for 5 years.  He is willing to contribute more to our Chinese community and like to see our Chinese have a stronger vocalization in the community.

 

Yuanzong Fu (傅元宗)

CAST-UT Vice PresidentScience/Technology. Yuanzong Fu is one of the founder members of CAST-UT. Since 1991, Mr. Fu has been working at the University of Utah and various companies in Utah. He has over 26 academic publications and presentations nationally and internationally and holds two patents. Mr. Fu is one of the finalists of the 3rd "Spring Cup" Creative Venture Competition held in China in August, 2008. Yuanzong is very active in community services.

 

Gary Pan (潘东)

CAST-UT Vice PresidentBusiness/Trade. Mr. Pan is a financial advisor with UBS financial Service, Inc.  Mr. Pan had extensive experience in investment consulting, business consulting, and international business development.  While studying at the Utah State University, he served as the president of the Chinese Student and Scholar Association.  After graduating from an MBA program at Utah State University, he worked as an international manager and helped numerous Utah based companies explored business opportunities in Asia Pacific region.  Mr. Pan traveled to Asia frequently and had hands on experience conducting international business and market research, negotiating Sino-American joint venture, and establishing international distribution network. Mr. Pan served as principal consultant at PanAsia International, an international business consulting firm in Utah.  Mr. Pan also holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the College of veterinary medicine at Beijing Agricultural University.  He is interested in helping the Chinese communities in any way he can.

 

Gangqiang Wang (汪刚强)

CAST-UT Vice PresidentMembership. Dr. Gangqiang (Victor) Wang earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 1996 and served the university as an associate professor till 2000. He worked as a research associate and assistant professor at the University of Arkansas on electronic materials and electronic packaging from 2001 to 2006. He is currently the Director of Device Processing at EmiSense Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah, a technology leader in the field of emission sensors and emission control systems for truck and automobile engines as well as stationary power systems. Dr. Wang has been a peer reviewer for several journals and the associate editor of Journal of Microelectronics and Electronic Packaging. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of IMAPS. Dr. Wang is an active CAST-UTAH member contributing to various events and activities organized by the association and the local Chinese communities.

 

Ge Wu (吴戈)

CAST-UT Vice President–Community Event.  Ge graduated from Peking University Law School in 1989 and came to Salt Lake City in 1990 with her husband and lives here ever since.  In 1998, Ge graduated from U of U with MBA degree and worked as a financial analyst in large corporations for 7 years.  Ge is currently working as a real estate professional/investor.  Have two boys age 8 and 10.   Enjoy skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, working out, traveling, reading, and self-improvement training for continued growth.  Currently Ge also serves as the president of United Chinese Association of Utah (UCAU), a local Chinese organization founded in 1995.  

 

Wayne Xia (夏卫东)

CAST-UT Vice PresidentEducation Seminar. Wayne was born in Hunan Province, China.  He obtained his B.S. in Geology from Chengdu Institute of Technology, Chengdu, China in 1982 and his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, CA in 1985.  He has worked with several engineering consulting firms in California, New Jersey, and New York.  He has also worked for the New York State Government and the Federal Government.  He currently works as a civil engineer and Manager of Technical Services Division with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Wayne has been a CAST-UT member since 2002 and has served as CAST-UT Treasurer or on the Board of Directors for several years.

Bill Jiang (蒋为民)

CAST-UT 2007 President and CAST-USA 2010 Vice President–Public Relations (US), received his MS/BS from Chongqing University and MS from University of Utah. He has been an active life time member of CAST-USA and served as Vice President of CAST-USA in 2009, President of CAST Utah Chapter in 2007. He has been actively involved with CAST-UT and CAST-USA, helped and led several CAST teams to work on various collaboration projects both in US and China in the past years. He is founder and President of US New Century Group, Inc., and founder and Vice President of CQU Alumni, USA. Now, he works as a diamond club member broker at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Utah. He has published 1 book, 7 papers and awarded 3 prizes in mining and environmental engineering.

 

Hao Zhu (朱昊)

CAST-UT 2002–2004 President. As a board member, Hao would like to serve the Utah Chinese community and to see the continued growth of CAST-UT that provides positive impact to the community.  Hao served as the president of CAST-UT in years of 2002-2004, and chaired the Utah Chinese New Year Cultural Celebration Committee.  He currently serves as a co-chair of the Governor's Asian Advisory Council. Born and raised in China where he received MS and BS degrees in engineering, Mr. Zhu continued his graduate studies in the U.S. and received a second Master degree from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.  He has resided in Utah since 1993.  He is a licensed professional engineer and a project manager at the State of Utah. 

 

Weili Cheng (程惟丽)

Dr. Weili Cheng is Of Counsel with the firm of Clayton Howarth & Cannon and also VP, legal of LSK Biopartners. She holds Bachelor of Science (Biological Sciences) and Master of Science (Virology) degrees from Wuhan University, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology degree and J.D. from the University of Utah. She has 15 years of experience in biotechnology research and teaching and has published scientific papers in the fields of virology, molecular genetics, enzymology, microbiology, and molecular evolution.   Dr. Cheng's practice focuses on U.S. and international patenting of inventions in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, and biomedical products.  She is admitted in Utah; United States Appeals Court for the Federal Circuit; and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  She is also a member of American Intellectual Property Law Association; Utah Bar Intellectual Property Section.  She is life time member of CAST-UT since 2000.

 

Nam Chau (周南)

Mr. Chau received an equivalent master science degree from Beijing Tsing-Hua University in 1965 and a master engineering degree from the University of Utah in 1982. Mr. Chau serves as Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer and Project Engineer for URS Corporation / Rogers and Associates Engineering Corporation, Salt Lake City since 1985 to present. Mr. Chau currently is partial retired for engineering services, but he owns an import /export trading company to have delivery construction materials from China to USA with annual revenue of one million dollars approximately. Mr. Chau has provided technical support to several low-level radioactive waste regulatory agencies such as US EPA, US DOE, the states of Texas, New York, California, Connecticut, Vermont, the Midwest Interstate LLW Compact, and the Electric Power Research Institute. He also participated in reviews of radioactive waste disposal facility license applications included the Envirocare site in Utah; the Ward Valley California site; the North Carolina low-level waste disposal site; and the Kerr-McGee West Chicago site. Mr. Chau has published more than 40 reports and papers and one third approximately of those papers have been presented in International Radioactive Waste Management Conference; Convention of the American Concrete Institute; American Chemical Society Symposium Series; etc.

 

Xiaoming Dong (董校铭)

Mr. Dong is a Sr. Software (Network) Engineer at LANDesk Software Inc., a recent spin-off from Intel Inc.  He works on the development of server management software suite for Local Area Network (LAN).  Prior to LANDesk, he spent several years as Tech Lead, Project Manager, Sr. Software Engineer and Firmware Engineer at SCO Group Inc., Intel Inc., and Enterasys Networks Inc.  Mr. Dong's R&D areas include Web Service, XML parser, Operating System, routing protocols (protocol stack) and network security.  He helped successfully build and push two products to market.  Prior to coming to the U.S., he served as a Department Manager at Global (Guangdong) Ltd Co., Guangzhou and System Engineer at Strong Co. (Institute of System Engineering), Beijing.  The later once held over 70% market share of M.I.S. system in China's Alcoholic Drink industry.  Mr. Dong obtained his B.S. degree in Applied Chemistry and his M.S. degree in Polymer from Peking University, China, as well as another M.S. degree in Computer Science from the Ohio University, Ohio.  Mr. Dong has helped maintaining the CAST WEB site for over two years.

 

Lian Feng (冯莲)

Co-ChairCommunity Event. Lian Feng has a master’s degree of Educational Management from Southwest University and a bachelor’s degree of English from Chongqing Normal University. In 2002, she was named City-level Head Teacher (one of the highest honors for high school teachers). Lian is in charge of Educational Scientific Research department as well as an English teacher in China and a Chinese guest teacher at Skyline High School and Churchill Jr. High School in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lian also won a number of prizes in China in English teaching contests, thesis, research, etc.

 

Li Sun (孙黎)

Li Sun is a PhD student at The University of Utah. She served as the president of the Chinese Association of Students and Scholars at The University of Utah in 2008-2009.

 

Rujie Sun (孙儒杰)

犹他大学中国学生学者联谊会主席。中国科技大学材料科学与工程系2003级本科,现在犹他大学材料科学与工程系就读博士学位,研究方向为新能源(太阳能电池)、生物器件以及微电子器件。

Le Wan (万乐)

Dr. Le Wan is a Research Scientist at the Consortium for Electromagnetic Modeling and Inversion, Dept. of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah. He is currently principle of the Oriental Chinese School.

 

Mike Wan (万卫东)

Mike Wan, Associate Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Utah.  He has extensive experience in international business, education and media.  He has an M.B.A. and was a consultant for major American corporations doing business with China.

 

Jaimee Yang (杨晓梅)

Co-ChairScience/Technology. Jaimee Yang, USTAR scientist, U of U., PhD from Tsinghua University; previously postdoctoral fellow at U of Texas at Austin, Research Scientist at Southern Illinois University. Her research interests are nanotechnology and nanomaterials and the broad applications in renewable energies and optoelectronic sensors.

 

Shuhua Zhang (张淑华)

Co-ChairMembership. Shuhua Zhang has been working at the University of Utah since 1988. She served as a witness as well as a volunteer to the CAST-UT since it was founded as a non-profit organization in 1996. She has enjoyed participating in all kinds of the activities organized through CAST-UT.
